underconsumption core, embracing the humdrum, and how the baddies are beating winter saddies.
the winter lull is here, but we got you.
part one: embracing the humdrum
if you live in new york, you’ve probably noticed how quiet the city feels lately especially post the election day chaos-clusterfuck. should we even talk about it? maybe…or maybe not.
but myself included- (founder, priscilla here) i have been feeling the weight of the world heavier than usual. although i am often positioned both internally and externally as a light worker- sometimes us light workers also have our moments of recluse and it’s warranted to go within.
and so this fall/winter we’re learning to embrace the humdrum of life which sometimes feels like we’re under-stimulated, bored or even in a rut- when actually we’re just honoring the season that we’re in, and that has been helping with feeling less resistance during these transitional moments. there’s a few things that have allowed me to sit in this slow, quiet space comfortably:
looking at old journals: reflecting on the year before and seeing how much i have grown. even though in the moment you don’t realize how each day has impact, but in hindsight, i notice little tiny micro changes that amount to a shift that matters.
our new short form series on the podcast, micromoments: a series that we started to spark curiosity, introspection and connection every monday morning in 10 minutes or less. the goal is to invite softness, mindfulness, and inspiration even in the moments that seem otherwise boring or mundane: like brushing your teeth, running errands, or on your way to work.Â
sinking deeply into community care and self-care: checking in on me and mines more often, and leaning into the practices that will lead build into my winter arc (aka that period of time in the colder months when you build practices, systems, habits, routines, and rituals that will allow you to emerge better, stronger, and hopefully even hotter). we’ll be hosting our very first winter arc awakening course in the upcoming weeks, so stay tuned for more.Â
part two: overconsumption is out, underconsumption is in.Â
ICYMI, overconsumption is out, and it’s time to embrace mindful, intentional choices—starting with how we approach this season of holiday shopping. if you know me, you know i’ve been using The Ordinary (aka The O.) products in my skincare routine since my early college days, and these are truly some of my holy grail items that will always be in my rotation.
in a culture that glorifies overflowing Sephora carts and frenzied sales, The O. is flipping the script with Slowvember—a month-long initiative inviting us to slow down, shop thoughtfully, and resist the Black Friday chaos. so instead, The O. offers a simple and transparent 23% discount on all products throughout November, extended until December 6th. no pressure, no gimmicks—just quality skincare at a reasonable price. plus, they’re closing their stores on Black Friday to encourage intentionality over impulsivity- and we love that.
as someone who’s been scaling back my own consumption lately, this aligns perfectly with my efforts to stick to essentials while maintaining my favorite routines—especially skincare. if you’re looking to simplify and prioritize the products that truly work, we recommend trying some of our go-to favorites: Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG, and the super gentle yet effective Natural Moisturizing Factors + Inulin body lotion from their body care line which is perfect for the sensitive skin baddies.
join us in embracing the slowness of the season with The O. and from now until December 6th, receive a free gift with the purchase of the Squalane + Amino Acids Lip Balm online or in-store, (with interchangeable keychain lid!), making it even more portable and convenient for the busy baddies.Â

note: this portion of the post is in partnership with The Ordinary, and contains affiliate links- because saddie baddies know how to spread the love (and the discounts!).
part three: how the baddies are beating winter saddies
here’s a non-exhaustive list of how the baddies are beating the winter saddies, from low to max effort:
level one: little to no effort
this is for when you really just need a break, rest, and put your phone on DND.
take a nap
watch a movie(s) that's always been recommended to you, but you've never seen
make a playlist, or better yet- just listen to one of ours
level two: a lil’ effort
ideal activities when you’ve gotten that random wave of inspiration after watching a really motivational tiktok video
take a 30 minute hot girl walk
read that book that’s collecting dust (you know which one)
take a bubble bath
deepen your self pleasure practices (releases endorphins!)
level three: a lil’ more effort
okay, now you’ve caught a wave of inspo, and you’re ready to implement it forreal. we love it here!
update your skin care routine (^^ see above for our favs)
organize your room so you can bed rot in peace
try a new workout or yoga flow
cook yourself a meal on tiktok that you’ve saved 7 months ago but never made
level four: winter saddies, who?
alright, you’re officially back in your bag, and ready to tackle on the rest of your day. officially from saddie to baddie.
start a new project or finish the last one
build or create an aesthetically pleasing object (think ashtrays, pencil holder, or jewelry tray)
make yourself/and or (and a loved one) a cute, romantic candlelit dinner
deep clean your space(s) for a fresh start and to move stagnant energy
we hope your winter blues feel a little lighter this year, baddie. see you soon, and stay soft.
softly,
